Borobudur Temple

 

Borobudur Temple is the world's largest Buddhist Temple in the world and was built in 8th and 9th centuries during the reign of Syailendra Dynasty. It is located in central Java, Indonesia. The temple consists of 9 stacked platforms, six square and three circular,topped by central dome. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues.




The walls and balustrades are decorated with 2672 relief panels and 504 buddha statues. The monument is restored with UNESCO's help in 1970s.
